BBYRA Sailing

Go Sailing on Biscayne Bay

BBYRA  welcomes you to join us for many hours of great fun sailboat racing.

BBYRA runs two races each month, one for the One Design classes and the other for the HANDICAP Cruising and J24 classes. There are opportunities for everyone whether you own a boat or just like to sail, or just want to get out on the water. There is no better place in the world to sail than here on Biscayne Bay. Each winter, we are literally overrun with sailors from all over the world who come here to take advantage of our fair breezes, moderate temperatures and beautiful waters.

Owners
If you have a sailboat and you want to participate in BBYRA events you can join by filling out the Yacht Registration online. There is a membership fee to join which is prorated after March 31st of each year. Handicap boats are required to have an ORC certificate from USSA. The ORC rating determines which class you will sail in and then we can put you in touch with your Fleet Captain who can help you get started.

We have established One Design fleets which include : Etchells, Flying Scots, J24/Sonars, Lasers, and Snipes.  We encourage participation from other fleets but through experience we have found that there should be at least five registered to ensure a minimum of three on the starting line.  You might want to contact US Sailing Center Miami  orShake A Leg  for other sailing opportunities.

Crew You can also join by filling out a Crew Registration . When you fill this form out we add your info to our Crew List on the web.  Many times boats can't sail for lack of crew.  The level of experience varies on individual boats but don't let that stop you from registering.   On the other hand, if you are interesting in taking a sailing course you may want to contact Coconut Grove Sailing Club  or Castle Harbor Sailing School.
