TO 2010 BBYRA SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Please insert at the end of CR
4.2
W(1) - Inflatable weather mark, compass bearing will be posted on the race
committee boat.
W(2) – Inflatable weather mark same compass bearing as W(1) but at a greater
distance than “W(1)”.
Please insert at the end of CR2. Active members of BBYRA may ELECT TO join PHRF4 fleet by application to and approval of the BBYRA Board. Characteristics governing selection to this fleet may include but are not limited to: a. Boat must be “wet” sailed. b. Boat must have inboard power. c. Boat must have installed, functioning marine head. d. Boat must have overlapping head sails. e. Boat must have mast mounted spinnaker pole with symmetric spinnaker.

Sailboat Racing 101 will take place on August 29th. Skippers can register to help.
The last sessionT very successful
Sailboat Racing 101, Part II Seminar
with 25 participants, 13 boats on the starting line and a boat load of
information and fun props delivered the training by past Commodore and avid
racer, Bud Price. Three PHRF boats, 3 Flying Scots, 4 Ensigns and 3 Snipes
showed up on the starting line and made their way to a windward finish. Photos

The
77th Anniversary Nassau Cup Ocean Race (Miami to Nassau) was rescheduled from
last February to November 11th, 2010. It is now one of the events managed
by SORC.

MIAMI – Where the best girls come to sail MIAMI, Fla. (June 14, 2010) Fifty of the top junior women sailors in the nation will compete in the U.S. Jr. Women’s Singlehanded Sailing Championship in Miami, Florida. Sailors representing fourteen states will be sailing July 19-23 for the Nancy Leiter Clagett Memorial Trophy at Coral Reef Yacht Club. The sailors, ages 13 - 18, come from Hawaii, the west coast, Michigan, New England, the east coast and Florida. They will race Laser Radials on Biscayne Bay . Competition will be fierce. Eight of the sailors finished in the top twenty last year’s championship. Those sailors include California’s Sky Adams and Annie Rossi, Florida’s Mallory Buechler, Arielle deLisser, Christina Frost, Laura Hernandez, Alec Payne and Kelly McGlynn from New Jersey. One of them, deLisser, won this prestigious trophy in 2008 and will be sailing at her home yacht club. All of the competitors will be ready to show off their sailing skills. In addition to 3 days of racing, the regatta includes a clinic with coaches provided by US SAILING and an evening of fun activities and dinner at Shake-A-Leg Miami. Jane Anne Pincus is the Regatta Chair. Michigan’s John Strassman is the Principal Race Officer (PRO) and CRYC's Race Committee Chair Sharon Bourke is the Deputy PRO. CRYC is in desperate need of small boats (ribs or whalers) for the coaches and judges to use. The coaches need 7 boats for Mon - Friday July 19-23. There is a 2 day clinic followed by 3 days of racing so the judges only need 2 boats for 3 days. I have a few promised, but need MORE.

Demonstrating that chine boats are forever, the Fort Lauderdale Snipe fleet was on the water Saturday with some highly decorated Opti sailors. The regatta was won by 2008 Opti World Champion Raul Rios of Puerto Rico, beating two time Snipe world champion Augie Diaz who sailed with former Opti skipper Scott Ewing. In third was past national champion Ernesto Rodriguez with 2009 Opti North American champ Christopher Williford as his crew. Wednesday Night Racing Starts Wednesday, April 28
At Shake A Leg Miami
Shake A Leg Miami will start Wednesday Night Racing on
April 28, with the first warning at 6:30 PM (1830 for you Navy guys!) and go the
next 8 Wednesdays (May 5, 12, 19, & 26, June 2, 9, 16 & 23. We will
take a break until July 21 & 28, August 4, 11, 18 & 25, September 1, 8, & 15.
Three races are planned each Wednesday and the racing area will be in the area
of Quick Flash. This will give us two series of nine race days
each, with a break for the fourth of July. (If we feel so inclined, we could
have a one day event on the fourth (Sunday). Let us know what you think about
this idea. The charge will be $15. per person on the Freedoms and
$40 for one series or $70 for both series for non SALM boats. Scoring in
the Freedoms would be based on the individual sailors, with a 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3
2, 1 that each sailor gets based on the scores of the boat he is on for the
evening. We will have it in a spreadsheet that will be posted on the website.
Other classes would be scored by boat. If you have questions call Jenny at
